TTR adopts new scoring system

After a successful trial at the Arctic Challenge, TTR are hoping to use the Snowboard Live Scoring System in every 6-star event at this year’s World Tour. It replaces the Overall Impression system, which has been criticised for not shedding enough light on why riders got the score they did. The new system scores the rider for each individual trick in their run, before adding up the total and combining it with a score for how well the rider linked the tricks in their run.

The system will next be used to judge the 2010 Burton New Zealand Open, expanding to all other 6-star events should it be well-received. Developed by experienced judges Dani Meier and Greg Johnson, the new system already has the blessing of Torstein Horgmo, Andreas Wiig and TTR co-founder Terje Haakonsen, so we expect it to be a done deal before long. Judging’s not an exact science, but this approach seems likely to produce the fairest result, unlike this travesty from X-Games 13….
