On any snowboard mission, layering is important. Get it wrong and you risk sweating buckets with every step of your hike – or worse, feeling the bitter chill when you’re miles away from a place to warm up.
The guys at Rip Curl know this, and that’s why they offer a range of mid-layers to cover all conditions. There’s their Ultimate Fleece Suit and Ultimate Down Puffer for seriously cold days, but for more typical conditions there’s this – the Ripping Puffer.
Rip Curl Ripping Puffer – €120
The Ripping Puffer is a lightweight layer that gives you a substantial heat boost without bulking you up too much.
Made from 100% Polyamide and finished with a Durable Water Repellant (DWR) coating, it’ll keep moisture at bay – although it should go without saying that a fully waterproof outer layer is still a must for snowboarding. The regular fit profile means that the Ripping Puffer will sit comfortably under a shell jacket, and the hood is fully adjustable for when you need a little extra protection from the elements.
Off the hill, this fits the bill for post-shred wanderings even without another layer on top – and with three exterior pockets and one on the inside, there’s enough room to pack the essentials.
