In August this year, Shoulda’ Danished Productions will release their latest snowboard film Operetta. We don’t know exactly why they shoulda Danished. All we know is that the trailer is pretty weird and promises a movie along the same lines when it comes out.
Pitched as an adventure to harness gravity, there is a strange mix of street riding, bad acting, and some threats of revolutionising the snowboard film industry. They plan to do this by making a snowboard musical. And the crowd goes wild!!! Errr… or perhaps not?
Hold on though! Because apparently and Operetta is ‘a short amusing opera’. Two things to clutch onto here. First is ‘short’. The normal pain of sitting through hours of synchronised and expensive wailing in the West End just to get a tiny pot of ice cream at the interval should be avoided. Amen to that.
Secondly Operettas are meant to be amusing. Now our past experiences of musicals suggest that they’re anything but, however these boys may be about to break the mould. This is actually genuinely pretty funny. And who knows, maybe a switch back high octave to boardslide will be next seasons big trick.
