Known as the veteran to women’s half-pipe on the Canadian Olympic Team, Mercedes, born and bred in Whistler, has always had a taste for the mountains.
After making the (very sensible) decision to swap from two planks to one at the age of 13, she has notched up three Olympic appearances (including competing on home turf at the 2010 Vancouver games where she places 6th).
You can still find her on the slopes of Whistler where she continues to ride and compete.
