World Rookie Tour Finals

50 of the best youngster from 12 nations landed in Ischgl, Austria, for the Protest World Rookie Finals 2009. For this TTR 4star event the best youngsters were pre-selected throw many other contests to challenge for the title of World Rookie Champion and many amazing prizes for example filming sessions with Pirate Movie Production and a photo-shooting with Onboard Europe.

The set up of the park consist of jumps from 8m to 20m, boxes, rail, a wall ride and additionali a huge bag jump was prepared for a special training session. Tuesday trainings were under strong winds but the young talents showed up their skills anyway on both competition slope style and in the many other freestyle areas shaped by Ischgl snowpark crew.

For the next days the event schedule include not only competition but also avalanche practical clinics, photo shootings, video review while team managers, talent’s scout and media are expected to come to see with their eyes who will be the next snowboarding future star.

“Snowboarding is not just about competing, it’s a combination of many aspects including photo and filming session, freeriding and avalanche knowledge” stated Marco Sampaoli, world rookie tour director “that’s the reason we include in each event these features”.

Since its first edition in Norway, the world rookie fest is the event where unknown youngsters start to shine: the first rookie fest champion in 2004 was Peetu Piiroinen, just crowned few days ago TTR World Tour Champion 2009.
