O’Neill Evolution Halfpipe gets going

The O’Neill Evolution Halfpipe comp got underway yesterday. Its six star TTR rating means there’s a hell of a lot of world ranking points up for grabs and there’s also a fair old wodge of cash available to split between the winners. With riders like Markus Keller, Christian Haller and Markkus Malin heading to the luxury resort of Davos, the action was heating up yesterday. Representing the UK were Lewis Courtier-Jones, Cody Heirons and Dan Wakeham. While young Courtier-Jones and Heirons performed well, it was only Wakeham (with his brand new double crippler flip in the bag) who progressed through yesterday’s qualification – with an impressive 6th place finish in his heat.

Unfortunately, we’ve just had word that Dan didn’t make it any further than the semi-finals. His first run was sick, and he stomped everything right up until the final hit, where he just slipped out on the landing. efforts weren’t helped by the fact that he snapped his board on the first run, and thanks to the incompetence of the baggage handlers on easyJet, Wakeham didn’t have a spare board to ride! Dropping in for the second time on a broken board was balls out, but poor Dan didn’t really stand a chance. Nice one sleazyJet! Watch out for footage of the semis and the final results dropping soon!
