Nike Chosen Series – Switzerland

http://mpora.com/videos/IQud1Toav The Nike Chosen Series moved to Hoch Ybrig in Switzerland for the fourth stop of the tour as the search continued for another rider to represent their country at the Nike Chosen Session later in the year. While the Hemel Hempstead leg was blessed with bluebird conditions the same could not be said for Hoch Ybrig. The weather was so bad that the contest had to be put back a day and when it finally kicked off the conditions remained temperamental, swinging from blue skies to fog in the space of minutes.

Having said this, it takes a lot more than this to put off the hardy Swiss locals who defied blindness to throw themselves off the huge Nike kicker that had been set up for the event. With conditions so tricky, organisers decided to do away with the qualifiers and have a final which included all the riders, meaning it was a straight up showdown winner takes all situation for that golden ticket. Ignoring the visibility the riders set about destroying the hits, maintaining an sick level of riding considering the fog. Arvet Fuchs and Roger Schuler particularly impressed, with the former nailing his first ever backside double cork. However it was Markus Mathis who took first place and the invitation to travel with the Nike Chosen crew in April with an array of tricks including a backside double corked 10.

The tour now heads to Germany where the crew will hopefully be greeted by better weather but just as sweet riding. Still not sure if anyone has reached Andy Nudds’s level yet though…
