Snowboarder jumps moving freight train

Our young whippersnapper of an assistant editor, Tristan, just posted this new video from the Czech Republic, marvelling at their crazy train-jumping antics. Well, as the old dog on the Whitelines team I had to point out that jumping moving trains on a snowboard is nothing new – in fact it was done as far back as 1995, when Andy Hetzl and Temple Cummins cleared a gigantic locomotive in the Pacific Northwest. The footage featured in a promo for Shaun Palmer’s new snowboard brand, which I’ve dug up on Youtube for your viewing pleasure (and to put Tristan firmly in his place of course). Man, they don’t make videos like this any more do they? Weird, liquor swigging set-pieces in the Black Rock Desert, bleeding, home-made ‘Slayer’ tattoos, fangs, angry rock and of course some seat-of-your-pants riding. Modern pros might have more style and control, but when it genuinely looks like the rider might plummet into a passing coal wagon at any moment it kind of adds to the entertainment doesn’t it?
