5 of the Best Snow Festivals for 2013-14

Eagerly kicking off the winter festival season on 27th November is Freeze Festival, which this year has traded in the iconic towers of Battersea Power Station for the green grass of Clapham Common. While it’s not quite as glamorous as the alps and the snow is undeniably limited, where else in the UK are you going to find an acceptable place to act like you’re on a season?

Normally constrained over a weekend, this year Freeze organisers have gone all out to offer a lengthy five days of urban snow and music antics. How they’re going to fill these five days is still a little hazy, but it looks like they’ve upped the ante this year with five après bars, a cinema for movie premieres, interactive lectures from the athletes and even a full on fun fair.

2013 sees a change to the competition format, with the big air comp axed and replaced with a new international rail jam. Sad news for many, but with Freeze claiming that this will be the ‘biggest and most exciting competition to date’ we’re interested to see how it goes down.

We’ve been left hanging as to what to expect from this year’s music lineup, but if you take a look at last year’s acts which included DJ Shadow, Scratch Perverts and Public Enemy, I’m sure you’ll get the gist.

When: 27th November – 1st December 2013
