  • Salomon Sickstick Stats:
  • PRICE: £450
  • FLEX: 6
  • SIZES: 153, 156, 160, 163
  • PROFILE: Hybrid Camber
  • SHAPE: Directional

The Salomon Sickstick has been around since the end of the previous decade, and continues to win over new fans. Not much has changed in its design since last year, but you won’t hear any complaints about that.

With its slightly tapered shape and pointed ends, it’s definitely well suited to the powder, and if you can’t picture yourself hooning down a pillow line on this then perhaps look elsewhere. However, the mostly cambered profile means it’ll grip the hard pack nicely, so wherever you ride this it’ll deliver.

Sustainability is at the forefront of this one too; the core features eco-friendly polawania wood (which has the added bonus of being nice and light), and the sidewalls are made of bamboo rather than synthetics.

Overall, Salomon reckon they’ve managed to reduce the use of non-natural products by as much as 40% without coming up short on quality. Indeed, rather than shove any extra materials into the core to increase the pop, Salomon have achieved a similar result by varying the thickness at certain points along the length of the board. That makes it snappier, as well as less weighty.

It’s definitely a good choice for environmentally-conscious pow fiends, then - and should you wish to step it up, it can be chopped down the middle and turned into a splitboard. In a word, sick.

Tester's Verdict

Youri Barneoud - onboardmag.com

“It’s been a few years since it appeared in the Salomon range, and the Sickstick still floats above the rest as a quiver killer – especially for those who are not afraid of the big white.

There’s no need to take a bigger length if you plan to use it solely outbound – a normal size will work fine, and you can also make the most of it on the pistes. It’s a powder board that can do just about everything, including switch riding.

The solid construction of the Sickstick cuts through any kind of snow. It always feels solid under your feet, and the turns link pretty effortlessly. It’s a banger!"
