With a wealth of expertise covering both snowboarding and skiing, it’s only natural to see Head catering for all ages of mountain users.
The Head Evil Youth kids snowboard is the slightly stiffer model in their junior range, aimed at the flourishing grom who still isn’t quite ready for adult-sized kit.
The construction of the Head Evil Youth is fairly straightforward, with a full poplar core wrapped up in a true twin shape.
It’s got a rocker profile that offers up a few varied benefits; those still learning will find the process less tricky, as the risk of edge catches is minimised, but it also comes in handy whenever the snow is deep and the nose needs to be kept up.
"With this, kids can pick up the freestyle basics in no time"
Freestyle is most certainly on the table with this one, as it’s got a nice mellow flex that’s perfect for buttering and that perfectly compliments the rocker profile. In fact, while it can definitely turn its hand to everything, this is where the Head Evil Youth really excels. Kids can pick up the freestyle basics in no time - and with very few exceptions, younger rippers are more interested in this aspect of snowboarding than freeriding.
"The Head Evil Youth kids snowboard is a great example of simple, effective tech executed well"
That being said, our testers discovered that it’s still powerful enough to handle being turned up for faster riding. The extruded base will only push things so far, but it’s easy to maintain and can take a beating too.
It might not win any prizes for innovation, but the Head Evil Youth kids snowboard is a great example of simple, effective tech executed well. If you’re looking for something that a young shredder can use to master the basics quickly, and won’t let them down when they’re ready for the next level, this ticks all the right boxes. It’s strong, stable and sturdy, whilst still being a lot of fun.

“I like this board a lot, it was really bendy and I could do ollies on it really well. I liked doing wheelies on it too. The graphics could be more colourful though."
“Much to my surprise, the kids loved this board. It was mega pressable, they were doing wheelies everywhere, but they were also able to rip around on it. My youngest child was throwing massive turns on this board, very clearly having a lot of fun.
They would have happily ridden that board all season, and it was definitely among the best of all the boards they tested."
Michael Schuster - Product Manager, Head
"The Evil Youth was designed with the kids in mind who want to step up their game. The mid-wide shape is ideal for the fast-growing offspring, but also helps a lot to bring stability and a faster learning experience during the first days in the snow.
The relatively soft flex, durable poplar core and rocker profile make the Evil Youth the perfect board for your first tricks and side hit experiences, but it’s also great for just cruising down the mountain.
I wish I had such a fun snowboard when I was a kid."
