• DC Ply Women’s Stats
  • PRICE: £275
  • FLEX: 6
  • SIZES: 142, 146, 150
  • PROFILE: Hybrid Camber
  • SHAPE: Directional Twin

Low in price but not in performance, the DC Ply has long been a favourite for riders on a budget. Male riders should seek out the slightly tweaked men’s version, but this one’s for the ladies.

While its shape is slightly directional, the stance reference points of the DC Ply are centred, as is the sidecut. Charging it in your preferred stance is the better option, then, but you can get plenty out of this going switch too.

"It’s short, sweet and simple. The price point is perfect if you want to up your freestyle game without getting too carried away"

Indeed, the profile (a pronounced bend with flatter spots at the contact points) lends itself to freestyle, with plenty of pop when you need it and a loose, skate-like feel when you’re just cruising. Thanks to a reduced topsheet it’s also lighter than average, but still strong enough thanks to a couple of strips of beech wood enhancing the poplar core.

The pre-bevelled edge means that you can take this to the park on day one, and at the same time less experienced riders will appreciate how forgiving that makes it. Whatever your ability level, the DC Ply has something to offer - and at that price, getting one for the quiver is a realistic option for many.

Tester's Verdict

“This board is made for the park!

It’s short, sweet and simple. The price point is perfect if you want to up your freestyle game without getting too carried away.

Transferring the tech from skateboarding onto the snow is never a bad idea. I’m just going to work on my skate tricks, then this board will be even better suited to me!"
