Helmets don’t have to be dull; just look at the Roxy Power Powder. This female-specific snowboard helmet is pretty eye-catching, but first and foremost it’s all about staying safe and comfortable when you’re getting risky in the deep stuff.

The Roxy Power Powder is incredibly lightweight, due to the construction. The hard outer shell is made from polycarbonate, which is more than tough enough for the hazards met on the mountain yet weighs next to nothing. It’s backed up by a layer of EPS (expanded polystyrene) and it should go without saying that that stuff’s as a feather too.

"You can pop the lining out and wash it, so even after a whole season in this thing you’ll still be able to have a fresh head"

On the inside it’s coated with Roxy’s mesh and Sherpa fleece lining, more of which can be found in the chin guard – easily the softest we had out on test. Whilst there’s no instant adjustment system, it does come with fully-removable interior cushioning that you can fine-tune to your exact head shape, plus thermoformed ear pads for added comfort and warmth.

When the liner gets a bit ripe, you can pop it out and wash it, so even after a whole season in this thing you’ll still be able to have a fresh head. Not that you’ll have to do it often; solid venting at the front keeps sweat from building up, which is half the battle.

Roxy recommend combining this with their Popscreen goggles, but just about any pair should work. And if you prefer to ride with tunes, the earpads can be swapped out for audio-compatible versions.

Looks-wise, all five available colourways have their own flair. However, our favourite is the ‘Hawaiian Tropik Paradise’ model pictured above.
