‘We Are Frameless’, say the guys at Dragon, and this model here is one of the reasons why. The Dragon X2 pioneered the brand’s patented style of goggle, and we’re sure it’ll be as popular as ever in 2016/17.
The Dragon X2 is a larger-fit goggle, and has a spherical lens. As long as you’re cool with the size, you’ll benefit from the completely unrestricted vision that the combination offers. The extra-wide nose bridge means they’ll fit any face, and they’ll still work with just about any helmet.
"The venting system is made from solid plastic that will perform just as well on the last day of winter as the first"
Lens-changing is almost inconceivably quick thanks to Dragon’s ‘Swiftlock’ system. It’s simplicity itself: just flight the small plastic levers on the side of the frame, and the lens is released. Reverse the process once the new lens is in, and that’s all she wrote. With a bit of practice you can even master this while wearing thick mitts, which you’ll be thankful for on the colder days. There’s no sacrifice in security either, as your lens won’t budge even after the most colossal stack.
More tough-points come from the venting system, which is made from solid plastic that will perform just as well on the last day of winter as the first. If it gets packed after a tumble, you don’t have to be gentle with it - just brush the snow away and get back to the shred. With such comprehensive venting, fogging isn’t an issue, so you can get unobstructed vision through the fully UV-blocking lens.
Not a fan of the ‘Mason Blue’ strap seen here? No problem - other options include camo and jet black. There are also signature designs for long-serving Dragon riders Bryan Iguchi and Gigi Rüf - dark ‘n’ subtle for the former, and surprisingly blingin’ gold for the latter.
I absolutely love this goggle. Being a large frame it fitted my face perfectly, and gave great peripheral vision.
I have to say the new optimized lens technology from Dragon is a noticeable improvement in clarity and depth over their old lens (which was already one of the best).
"Its super easy to change the lens with the Swiftlock system"
Snow definition was great, and gave lots of confidence in all conditions. It’s super easy to change the lens with the Swiftlock system, although I would say to make sure you lock the tabs in properly or they can pop off if you take a big hit.
Overall the X2 is a comfy and stylish goggle with great vision – and if the size isn’t right for you, there’s always the smaller-fitting X2s.
Bryan Iguchi - Team Rider, Dragon
I joined the Dragon family because of the product they create and the X2 reinforces that reasoning 100 percent. The last thing you want to worry about is your equipment while you’re having an incredible day in the mountains with your friends.
With this new Swiftlock lens change system I can literally swap my lenses out on the chairlift with my gloves on. The X2 is the perfect blend of performance, style and technical innovation.
