The three-teardrop design means that Travis Rice has stamped his approval on the Quiksilver TR Natural Gore-Tex snowboard gloves - which in turn tells you a lot about what these can do. Built with the finest materials and a focus on durability and functionality, these can withstand anything Mother Nature throws their way.
The Quiksilver TR Natural Gore-Tex snowboard gloves feature the same ‘Warmflight’ insulation that you can find in the brand’s outerwear. For 2017/18 it’s been upped from 80g to 100g, so colder temperatures won’t be a problem.
There’s a Gore-Tex membrane, obviously, so any excess heat is efficiently filtered out - and the same goes for any moisture build-up that can play havoc with your comfort level. At the same time you’re fully protected from the outside world, right up to horizontal blizzards on exposed peaks.
"In these you’re fully protected from the outside world, right up to horizontal blizzards on exposed peaks"
The high-quality leather outer is not only highly windproof (which is a massive factor in maintaining the right climate for your hands), but is also as rugged as it gets. If you spend almost as much time firing the throttle of your sled or wielding a shovel at a kicker build as you do on your actual snowboard, they’ll stand up to any and all abuse - especially once you consider the strategically placed ‘Gore Grip’ panels on the fingers and palm.
"The presence of pro-level tech makes this one of the most impressive pairs we’ve seen for 2017/18"
You don’t have to be all about the backcountry to use these though; any rider looking for something dependable enough for use on multiple trips, even if it’s well within the resort boundary, will get on famously with these. Subtle clips and elastic leashes make for easy carry when you’re taking a break, and they’re fully touchscreen compatible too.
The presence of pro-level tech makes this one of the most impressive pairs we’ve seen for 2017/18, but the Quiksilver TR Natural Gore-Tex snowboard gloves will find a far wider following than just amongst the heli-riders of Alaska.
