Switchback’s new AERON base does feature in the women’s range - on the Up model - but there’s still a place for the classic ‘Origin’ base too. The Switchback Static women’s binding uses it as its foundations, achieving a laid-back freestyle feel in the process.
"Being quite flexible, the Switchback Static is ripe for jibbing and general park riding"
Being quite a flexible binder, the Switchback Static is ripe for jibbing and general park riding. The ‘midback’ highback is not only a little shorter than you’d think, which makes for a less rigid ride, it’s also got Switchback’s signature large cutaway. This makes it a bit more malleable, especially from side to side, but you still get all the support you need from top to bottom.
Not too sure about that? No problem. As with all Switchbacks, you can take the highback off and replace it with a different model - or even none at all. The Switchback Static can be ridden without highbacks, for that true surfy feel in powder. It might not be something you want to do every day, but the option’s there and getting set up is easier than falling off a log.
The Switchback Static is also the lowest-priced adult’s binding in our entire guide, so it’s definitely one to seek out if you’re on a budget. Even if you’re not, though, there’s a good chance you’ll love the way it feels.
"The Static was one binding that I felt put a real focus on comfort, but somehow managed to do this without lacking on the performance.
"Pastel Princess aesthetic paired with rad performance is a no brainer for me"
Having weirdly small feet sometimes means that the straps don't sit well on my boot, but these ones actually wrapped properly around and I felt like I wasn't left wanting. The slightly lower highback sat exactly where I needed it to, and allowed my boot to move exactly as I wanted it to. Pastel Princess aesthetic paired with rad performance is a no brainer for me."
