As with other Burton bindings, the key difference between the EST and Re:Flex versions of the Burton Escapade women’s bindings is what’s directly under your foot. However, on this model the disparity is bigger than anywhere else in the B’s range.
"As strong, lightweight, shock-absorbing and comfortable as you could ask for"
The EST version of the Burton Escapade seen here (as in the one that’s compatible with the Channel mounting system on Burton boards) is the only binding to feature Burton’s ‘PodBED’ cushioning system. Your foot rests on individual sections of EVA padding, placed where they’re most effective, to ease off any harsh vibrations and chatter. It also forgoes the use of glue, giving it more eco-points.
Only the Re:Flex version is compatible with non-channel snowboards, though, so make sure you’re getting the right pair for your setup. Whichever you go for, both versions have been built from the ground up with a female-specific design. The highbacks have been shaped to match the needs of your lower leg as closely as possible, and the sizing of all individual components has been pored over by Burton’s tech bods to ensure it’s not just a scaled down version of a men’s binder.
Performance-wise, the Burton Escapade earns its above-average price tag with by being as strong, lightweight, shock-absorbing and comfortable as you could ask for, with a flex that all fun-loving riders can appreciate.
“The Escapade is a fantastic top-of-the-range binding for ladies who are not afraid to put a bit of effort in. I rode the EST version of these, with the Burton Feelgood snowboard, which is a match made in heaven. They are lightweight and super responsive.

I would recommend these to an intermediate to advanced rider that likes cruising the piste, slaying the pipe and big kickers or riding powder - a bit of everything really - and who favours a stiffer-flexing setup."
