Learning where to put your weight when exiting a turn is all well and good, but even before you set foot on the hill it’s important to get your layering right. What you wear will vary drastically depending on the conditions (see our comprehensive guide on How To Layer For Snowboarding), but here’s something that’s worth chucking on whatever the weather.

The Airblaster Ninja Suit is the last word in base layers, and if staying comfortable on the hill is a top priority then it’s worth every penny. Its one-piece construction is cosier than having separate uppers and lower thermals, and will lock you up against any rogue snow that gets through your jacket and pants.

Merino wool is famously ideal for use in thermals, thanks to its warmth and moisture wicking properties, but that’s not all that’s going on here. Airblaster’s own ‘Woolverino’ blend is roughly two parts Merino to one part ‘Tencel’. This combination of miracle Kiwi wool and wood-based cellulose fibres is not only tougher than the Merino alone, it’s also even quicker-drying. When you’re sweating up a storm on a long backcountry hike, or on a warm spring day, you’ll be loving that.

While it’s got a nice bit of stretch to it, the Airblaster Merino Ninja Suit has been designed with the various movements of a snowboarder in mind already, so it’ll sit nicely on you all day.

"If you prefer to ride with your hair tied back, there’s an opening that lets your tail dangle freely"

In seriously cold conditions, you can flip up the hood to keep you a bit toastier. Actually, even when it’s not too nippy, it’ll be more comfortable around your bonce than any beanie or helmet, and is thin enough to slip underneath whatever headgear you choose without any unpleasant bunching. If you prefer to ride with your hair tied back, there’s an opening that lets your tail dangle freely.

This funky fish design is Airblaster through and through - they’re serious about the gear they make, and not much else - but if it’s a bit too out-there for you then standard blue and red versions are available too.

Trade Secrets

Jesse Grandkoski - Brand Manager, Airblaster

"The Ninja Suit is the best base layer on the planet. Its has become an everyday essential for our ambassadors as they travel the world surfing couches, waves and mountains.

Our merino suit is the platinum standard of one-piece base layer. Our proprietary merino-rich blend, Woolverino, is 45% stronger and dries twice as fast as merino alone. Besides being technically superior, the Woolverino fabric is also the softest merino blend we've encountered, thanks to the addition of Tencel, a sustainable fabric, regenerated from wood cellulose that happily blends with the natural fibers of merino wool.

We are confident that the Ninja Suit is the best base layer on the planet; it provides the ultimate warmth and comfort for outdoor adventure. In fact, if the Ninja Suit doesn't inspire you to new heights of adventure and fun, we'll gladly refund your full purchase price, no questions asked.

Stay warm, stay dry, STAY WILD."
