There’s more thought and planning that goes into shooting snowboarding in the mountains than you might think. Following on from the full documentary last week featuring snowboard photographer James Bryant’s epic trip out to Iceland with Angus Leith, James walks us through his essential kit for shooting.
As you might expect, the Nikon DSLR and associated lenses form the backbone of James’ photographic kit, alongside a 35mm film camera for a touch of variety, and a pair of hard drives ensure that no shots are lost along the way. Two pairs of gloves for use in various situations ensure the hands stay toasty, while goggles protect the eyes from the intense sunlight and reflection that you experience out on snow. Last but certainly not least, James always travels in the mountains with proper safety equipment – transceiver, shovel and probe as a bare minimum.
