The A-Frame is one of Oakley’s most popular goggles of all time, and has been given a sleeker, lighter look for 2015. The field of vision has also been improved, as has the venting. The biggest difference found in the Oakley range this year, though, is the new Prizm lenses.
By now you might have heard about Prizm, which Oakley launched with the bold statement ‘You Will Never See Snow The Same Way Again’. The logic is that eyes detect some colours in the light spectrum better than others, so the lens is tweaked to account for this and provide better definition.
Does it work? Well, our test was conducted in very mixed conditions, from bright sun in the morning to thick fog later in the day. The rose lens was ideal for the latter, and the definition it provides really is something else. It’s hard to say exactly how much of a step up it is from a standard Oakley lens (which you can also get for this model), but there’s no question that Prizm is on another level.
Elsewhere, the venting is as effective as you could ask for, and the foam around the frame is comfortable too. The tweaks made to the A-Frame have kept what make the goggle such a hit in the first place, and will ensure it remains so for 2015 and beyond.
