An award winning all rounder – the K2 Happy Hour is an increasingly familiar shape board that you may well have already seen hanging about at your favourite haunts.
Fully endorsed by Tim Eddy of Airblaster and Danny Larsen – it’s built on a lifted flat base – with a rocker on each end outside the bindings, and of course topped off with those distinctive pointed tips.
Tech wise – it’s backed up by K2’s ‘Tweekend’ construction that extends the ridable surface area right to the tip and tail for extra stability – and this is combined with a hybritech construction that boasts low swing weight and improved turn initiation.
Tim Eddy describes this as the best snowboard he’s ever ridden, and uses it all year round – so you might well want to take one out and give it a try.
I found this actually surprisingly stiff – I was expected a soft jibby board, but it charges quite well too. It’s well built for carving and holds an edge really well through the turns – I even took it out into a little bit of powder today, and with the early rise after the front binding, you actually get quite a bit more float than you’d expect from it. It’s quite skinny for a snowboard of this length – I’ve been riding the 159 today – but that does mean that it’s fast edge to edge and you can really get those nice surfy turns.” – Sam McMahon
