It’s happy 10th birthday to Bern, and to its original peaked helmet – in fact, the Baker was the first of its kind to be made by anyone. It comes in two styles: ThinShell and Hard Hat.
The former meets EU standards for head protection but, like a quality cycling helmet, will need replacing if it takes a big hit. Meanwhile the latter can withstand multiple lower-impact hits, but hasn’t had the EU sign-off. Which one you go for is up to you, but be sure to check with the retailer that you’re getting the right one as there’s no visible difference between the two.
