Top 5: Snowboard Wallpapers of 2012

Everyone loves a banging snowboard shot. There’s just some intangible charm that you get from an impressive still shot that you just don’t get from the thousands of moving images that we see every day. They leave things open to interpretation – you can more easily put yourself in a rider’s boots and imagine yourself in the scene.

Every Friday for the past year we’ve put out a fresh new image by a top snowboard photographer and made them available for download in a range of resolutions for your computer desktop so you can put yourself in the mountains every single time you turn your computer on. Here are the top five most popular desktop wallpapers of 2012 in reverse order:

5. Nicolas Müller Tweaks Out

In fifth place is this moody one of Swiss style connoisseur Nicolas Müller doing one of those upside down, inside out, tweaked out tricks that only he can really do.

4. Nicolas Müller Slashes the BC Pow
It’s pretty unsurprising that Nicholas Müller is a popular man here on Whitelines. His unique approach to riding has earned him the respect of his peers and the public alike. Not content with one image in the top 5, here’s a second one of Mr. Müller on a powder assault in BC. We could look at Müller shots all day…

3. Andreas Wiig Sunset Pole Plant

You just can’t go wrong with a good sunset shot and Frode Sandbech knows it. This striking backdrop combined with Andreas Wiig‘s solid Nordic style makes for one of this authors favourite wallpapers of 2012.

2. Method Man Markus Keller Killin’ it in Kleinwalsertal!

Classic trick, perfect execution. This top five would not be complete without a shot of the most celebrated snowboard trick in the book.

1. Halldor Helgason Puts His Best Foot Fjord

Halldor Helgason is still one of the most buzzworthy figures in snowboarding and this shot from last year’s Nike Vapen Sessions in Norway was our most viewed wallpaper of 2012. The juxtaposition of snow and water definitely makes for a pretty unusual shot. Congrats to Halldor and Frode!

Editor’s Choice: Sylvain Bourbousson Backside 180 Chair Bonk

Black and white shots are rad and this particular Matt Georges shot of Sylvain Bourbouson is one of our favourites. Striking composition and a really good sense of where the rider has come from and is going to, thanks to the spray from the take off.
