Halifax kicked off the Westbeach Snowflex Series in Style on Saturday. With 40 competitors and a
whole load of spectators to push them on, we saw some sick riding.

The comp lasted all day with no one letting up. The standard was super high,
with Jamie Nicholls taking first place in the menʼs snowboard category after throwing down back 9ʼs
and switch b/s 540ʼs all day, with Danny McCormick just behind in second place, he too pulling
back 9ʼs off the legendary Halifax kicker. Andy Nudds came through to take third after a day of
solid riding with front 7ʼs, switch back 5ʼs and back 9ʼs.

The Team event went down a treat being judged on ingenuity and fun by MC, Dan Ashton and Sue
from Westbeach. Team Old Skool broke out into some kind of 70ʼs style dancing, there were superman front flips, Michael Jackson moves in the air by the lasses
and other random inventive stuff! It was a close call but Rub a dub took first place followed by
Sheffield and then Stoke Skiers.

Halifax is Jamie’s back yard, and it shows.

All in all the first stop of the series went down treat; the rain came when we needed it, there was
plenty of booty to give out to the riders and skiers and only one or two injuries (one being a fat lip
when judge JPʼs dog Mr Beefy head butted Col Mytton!). Roll on Bearsden.
