The Fridge Fraternity

We’ve got word of a MK facebook group that anyone can join and ride with people they ‘know’ (I’m sure after a while, it will become know instead of ‘know’). It’s to create an online fraternity so no rider will ever have to ride alone again! Not a bad idea although we wonder – is it a sign of these digital times that snowdome regulars need to get to know each other via facebook rather than saying hello in the flesh?!

Feel free to read away…

Myself and a few others are a part of a facebook group called ‘The Fridge Fraternity’ a group for the boarders who attend Milton Keynes Sno!Zone. The meaning of the group is to bring all local riders together… I attend MK every weekend with others, without fail and its a bit rubbish that we see the same faces every week yet, we don’t know who each other are! So, along side some good friends we have set up The Fridge Fraternity (in fact i didn’t create it, Steffan did). The group is also an open invitation and we are all very welcoming!

We hope in the future to put on events at MK. Anyone and everyone can get involved in making this happen. There is no assigned person to do something inparticular to help organise the events, if you choose to help, why not? Whether it’s making stickers, speaking to people about TFF or just being there on the night of the events, represent as much as you want to.

Hopefully the events will be a success, we have a few good ideas underway thanks to some of the group members. We also plan to hold competitions on event nights where some goodies can be up for grabs, clothing lines will also be on sale, DJ’s and bands playing etc.

Myself and Steffan already have our hoodies which we ride in, so on the slopes, we are now easily recognised! We are hoping to get stickers produced, business cards, a wide clothing range set up and get some advertisements going up soon which will hold any info about events or about the group and if successful, our sponsors/partners!! The only thing is… we need more members! One, for the group and establishing ourselves but also we would all love to get to know one another one the slopes and become that big happy snowboarding addicted family!!
We have lots of proposals under way and are currently in talks with different companies about helping us out on our event nights. So fingers crossed, it all goes well.

Basically, it would be an awesome amount of help, if this was published in your mag so help get the group known and get things rolling. The team at TFF are very dedicated to making this work and it would be much appreciated if this letter was printed! It would give us an opportunity to let people know that the group exists and get that needed support network in order for this to be a success in the long term!

So to anyone and everyone reading this, check out the group on facebook ‘The Fridge Fraternity’ (or email us [email protected]), drop any of the ‘admins’ a line if you have any questions, become a member, get involved or hopefully we shall see you on the event nights that we have planned in the future!

In the words of Steffan, Peace and powder!
