Snowboard instructor courses at Aberdeen Snowsports Centre

Aberdeen Snowsports Centre have announced that they are providing a course designed to take riders from a recreational standard to the level of a professional instructor in just six weeks. The scheme was created to provide more employment opportunities in Aberdeen and the snowsports industry as a whole.

The course, set to run on Tuesday evenings from May 5th, is the fourth year the ski centre has run this initiative and has a revised syllabus for this year. Successful completion of the course will mean riders will be eligible to instruct at the Aberdeen Snowsports Centre and will be able to go on to develop a career in the nationally recognised system.

The scheme is also a great opportunity for riders who want to develop their own snowboarding to a higher standard as the course will be coached by experienced and fully qualified coaches. The course is available to anyone over the age of 16.

Neil Cameron, now a casual snowboard instructor, completed the course and said: “I was a nervous applicant and was persuaded to come on the course by the guys at Aberdeen Snowsports Centre. The tuition was excellent and really improved my riding enabling me to understand how to use my board better and definitely made me a more accomplished rider. The skills given to me on the rookie course made the BASI Level 1 much easier and now I have the fun of teaching others to ride”

Further info can be found here and the deadline for applications is April 6th
