The Austrian resort of Hintertux has long enjoyed an awesome reputation, thanks to a large part to its snowboard park. The snow-sure glacier means the shapers can get their game on all year round and open much earlier than in most resorts – and it appears this year will be no exception. Word has reached Whitelines HQ that Hintertux will be opening its park for the first time between October 2nd and 4th this year, thanks to the Hotzone online board shop.

This short window is designed to give riders from all over Europe the chance to test out the new season’s gear and throw a few hammers down before the season proper kicks off. The boys from Hotzone have got some pretty cool stuff planned, including a mini-shred area, a bomb-drop from a crane into an airbag and a big ol’ BBQ and party to kick things off.

Apparently this weekend event goes off every year, with no less a figure than Wolle Nyvelt claiming: “The park is really sick most of the time and it is fun to see so many motivated riders on the mountain. Everyone is hungry for airtime during the day and they crave a beer in the evening. You just have to beware of Fänky and his “Welcome Schnaps” at the party!” So if you fancy a pre-season shred – or simply a wild weekend in Austria – this Autumn then it may be worth checking this out.
