Norfolk Host’s The First Ever Mini BRITS!

The 2009 British Snowboard & Freeski Tour along with a staggering combined prize purse of £40,000 is back! Kicking off its UK Tour on the 12th & 13th September in Norfolk with a brand new action-packed ‘Mini BRITS’ weekender!.

In an attempt to harness the success of the BRITS festival (Swiss Alps) that stages all Championship disciplines at one big event and attracts hundreds of competitors, organisers have copied the blueprint to create the first ever British Dryslope Championships of its kind at Norfolk Snowsports Centre. To steal back to the days of yore when folk would descend upon the local dryslope events in their droves armed for a festival, organisers are encouraging the masses to pitch up at the local campsite and get ready for a full weekend of world-class freestyle, So, tent pegs and Alka Seltzer at the ready and we’ll see you in Norfolk!

British Artificial Championship Schedule:
Saturday 12th September, Norfolk Snowsports Centre:
• Trespass Snowboardcross Championships
• Snowboard Big Air Championships
• Animal Freeski Slopestyle Championships
• FREE Beginner Ski & Snowboard Lessons
• FREE Demo testing, courtesy of K2, Ride, DC snowboards and K2, LINE and Volkl skis

With a massive local scene and arguably one of the best equipped and well kept dryslopes in the UK, Norfolk and the British Artificial Championships looks set to be an epic first event and new addition to this year’s Tour. The British Snow Tour is open to all ability levels and is served up across five age categories, Kids, Youth, Junior, Senior and Master and continues to offer snowboarders valuable Swatch TTR World Ranking points. To pre-register to compete and keep up to date with event details go to: www.britishsnowtour.com

The British Snow Tour isn’t all about competition. The inspirational schools tour programme which runs alongside the Snow Tour will continue to spread the word about skiing and snowboarding to over 10,000 kids, in Norfolk, Milton Keynes, Glasgow and Castleford. James Thorne, Paddy Graham, Becky Hammond and Pat Sharples will be heading back to school when they visit two local Norfolk secondary schools before the event to spread the word and dish out 200 FREE beginner lessons.

The British Snow Tour and Schools Tour programme would not be possible without its highly supportive sponsors: Animal, Trespass, SNO!zone, Cushe, Snow+Rock. Demo partners: DC, Ride, K2, Line and Volkl Ski’s. Media partners: Whitelines, Dark Summer, Skiclub.co.uk, Natives.co.uk, Metrosnow.co.uk, Extreme Sports Channel, Spiked and Snowboardclub.co.uk.
