Nikita Chickita USA went off with a bang on 21st February and has kick-started this year’s Nikita Chickita events in style! There’s still more action to be had in the form of the third Nikita Chickita Europe, taking place in Serfaus, Austria again PLUS a brand new Nikita Chickita contest happening in Norway!
The Norway contest is taking place first in Geilo on 13th – 15th March 09. Based on the same Nikita Chickita concept, this slopestyle contest is made for snowboard girls at all levels of riding to meet other girls, ride in a specially constructed park and enjoy some down-time together in the evening. There will be goodie bags for all the girls and great prizes for the winners, including an all-inclusive trip to compete in Nikita Chickita Europe on 18th April! It’s free to enter and the comp takes place on Saturday 14th March with a program to suit all. The Sunday will be a day to chill out, take part in the ride-together and just hangout in the girl’s park. There’s a great package deal for anyone wanting to go including two nights accommodation at ‘Geilo Fjellandsby’ brand new apartments on the slopes, two days lift pass, breakfast, lunch and dinner each day, all for just 1500 Norwegian Kroner (approx. 170 Euros / £155.00). Then it’s off to Nikita Chickita Europe on 18th April 09! With a specially built slopestyle course the contest is split into two categories; women and juniors. Up for grabs in 1st place for the women’s is a one-year contract with Nikita and 1000 Euros, 2nd gets 500 Euros and 3rd 250 Euros plus a bundle of goodies included. There’s high expectation already and riders already talking about coming from UK, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Holland and elsewhere.
Nikita founder Heida Birgisdottir commented last year on the success of seeing the progression of the girls taking part, not only in tricks but also in style. 2008 winner Ana Rumiha from Croatia won with a run that consisted of a backside 180, frontside 360 indy and was the only girl to bonk the tree with a nice frontside 180 then frontside 360 on the wall. The event has created an atmosphere where girls can get together and push one another without the level of pressure that can be encountered in more competitive events.
Expect a big Nikita party and prize giving to celebrate and congratulate everyone who has been a part of the event with line-up details to be announced!
