Metro Ski and Snowboard show have got it going on! Click here to see a full schedule of bands, talks and shows at this year’s biggest UK snow event.
Here are a few of the main features:
The Trespass Quarter Pipe The quarter pipe returns, following its popularity last year. Some of the UK’s best riders will be strutting their stuff five times a day for the duration of the show. The highlight will definitely be The British Quarter Pipe Championship on Friday (26th) at 4:30pm and 6:45pm.
Burton Rail Jam in partnership with Land Rover It’s great to see a rail set up at the show, following last year’s absence, and with Burton behind it, it won’t disapoint. There will be four jam sessions every day of the show, plus at some point over the weekend Snowboarding and Skiing will go head to head in the White Lines vs Dark Summer slide-off! (more details to follow next week)
XFM Gigloo The back end of the Park Life area will be pumping with a very impressive list of bands, DJs and the ever-croud-pleasing Bboy demonstrations. Acts include The Daze, Dega Breaks, Fatels and The Veez.
Snowboard and Freeski Theatre (in association with White Lines and Dark Summer) There’s a whole range of talks and features lined up, and they’re all free! Highlights include Neil McNab’s “Don’t get lost! Backcountry / Mountain Safety” talk, Jeremy Sladen (Daddy TSA)’s “Max your performance with the right board” and Marika Borg from Girlie Camps’ “Why we rock the slopes”.
Land Rover Brand Arena and Fashion Show This is another returning feature, following the success of last year. We were a little sceptical about this at first, but we were really surprised with how it came out! It gives you the chance to talk directly with the people who work at some of the biggest brands in the industry and see a pumping stage show (with breakdancers getting very hot and sweaty in technical outerwear!).
Board Art Gallery Featuring the work of Fernando Elvira and Nick Walker, plus live demonstrations from Jono Wood and Robin Pulpit.
Salomon Design your own board competition Go and sit cross legged and scribble out your design at the Salomon board design area. It worked for 4 year old Leo deSalis last year, who walked away with his own custom designed snowboard! There are four age categories this year: 6-13, 14-19, 20-30 and 30+. Get a head start by downloading the board template here.
Film Premiers Galore! Over the course of the week there will be film premiers in the Theatre for Blank Paper’s long awaited “In Short”, MMP’s “Green” and Isenseven’s “Ubermovie” (the latter two are both up coming White Lines cover DVDs!). We’ll let you know the times in next week’s Fix.
