Way back in December, James Haggerty and Sean Miller, aka Gonzilla.tv made a nationwide request for your snowboard footage. Their master plan was to put together a snowboard film that incorporated all the best bits from the 2011/2012 seasons of UK riders and to document the ins and outs, ups and downs and overs and unders (?) that make up a year of British snowboarding. Here is the final result:
It certainly can't have been an easy task trawling through hours upon hours of footage to select the choice shots, let alone actually editing it all together and making it structured and cohesive, but we have to hand it to the boys here as they have properly pulled it off. Portrait manages to cover all the bases and does a bloody good job of showing off the diversity of riding in the UK scene. There's the opening GoPro powder shots, the dome footage that we're all so familiar with, a spot of splitboarding with Rory Johnson, a horrific ankle injury with Andy Webb, a rad girls section and plenty of top quality park riding from way too many names to mention here. Nate Kern deservedly lands himself the final section of the film with a barrage of massive hits in the Breckenridge park.
Hilariously, the boys were having trouble uploading their finished film to Vimeo last night and ended up releasing it as a torrent to download; yep, they pirated their own freakin' film! As you do. A day later and all the technical issues have been ironed out and the Gonzilla lads are still set on people spreading their film around like a freshers' week herpes outbreak and are offering up the film for free download on their website. We encourage you to give it watch, download the film and if you were in any way involved (even as an unnamed filmer) to pat yourselves on the back. At the end of the day it's films like this that really help make our snowboard scene the big family that it is.
