Kickers that Changed Snowboarding – The Videos

To accompany our epic article “Kickers that Changed Snowboarding”, we’ve compiled a collection of videos from these memorable sessions. Each of these videos feature some of the most progressive riding you will ever see from their individual eras. So make yourself a cup of tea, sit back, relax, and enjoy this history of snowboarding, as told through some of its defining landmarks – and the riders who hit them.

The Air & Style Kicker.

Here’s the best of the comp in 2006. Check out Travis Rice’s now legendary winning run – a double backflip late BS180

Here’s the highlights from 2007 when Kevin Pearce took the title.

And here’s the best of the 08-09 Quarterpipe contest – there was no classic kicker comp last year.

The Riksgransen Quarterpipe

Check out Ingemar’s legendary backside air. This still looks stupidly impressive these days!

‘Perfect Jump’

Chris Dufficy hits this ma-hoosive backcountry booter right at the start of this part, taken from Forum’s film True Life. Not bad for an opening trick!

Hemsedal Hip

Mads Jonsson was being towed by a sled down the hill to hit this ridiculous sized hip in Norway. Taken from Burton’s For right or Wrong

Benedek’s ‘Step Over’ Kickers

This is a little clip of Benedek throwing down over one of the ‘step over’ style jumps he pioneered. Ends with a sweet (even if the landing is a little sketchy) double cork by the man that made them famous.

Halifax with the Boys and Blank Paper

Benedek visited Halifax during the filming of In Short to document a bit of the UK dry-slope scene. Local lad Colum Mytton and a young Jamie Nicholls showed what can be achieved.

The Avoriaz Gap

A handful of British pros have killed the gap with supreme style and flair as is shown in this quick montage of the film parts featuring this epic step-down. I think that every one of their claims is well deserved.
