Vans Europe Shown UK Shredding at its Finest

Despite Team GB’s success in Sochi, the UK is still seen as a funny shred destination by the rest of the world. Even with millions of Brits heading to the French, Swiss and Austrian Alps every year it’s a total rarity to hear of anyone making the trip in reverse.

Every Brit on a board must have had a conversation at some point that ran along these lines at some point:

“But your mountains are tiny no?”
“You ride indoors? Like, in a fridge?”
(Or our favourite) “What the fuck is that shit you’re riding on? Plastic? Carpet? What’s the point?”

Alas, some people will just never know the utter joy to be found shredding your local dryslope in the summer, creating features out of nothing and riding in t-shirts. Luckily for Sami Luhtanen, Kalle Ohlson and Arthur Longo however, Vans Snow treated them to the experience of a lifetime: a full on Brit shred!

The visitors were not prepared for such cold temperatures, which is pretty lame for a bunch of snowboarders!

Meeting up with some of their UK counterparts – Chris Chatt, Will Smith, Rowan Coultas, Sparrow Knox and Gaz Andrews – the team went out in full force first to Milton Keynes for an indoor session. According to their team manager: “The visitors were not prepared for such cold temperatures, which is pretty lame for a bunch of snowboarders!” but after watching the locals go hell for leather on the fake stuff they soon got the hang of it.

After that the tour ramped up the British factor even more by shifting over to Brentwood Dryslope, putting the fear of God into the Euros. Will Smith’s looong 5050 to layback under loosened them up for a few laps of fun in the sun before the party moved to the House of Vans London opening party.

What better way is there to end a UK shred tour than by a full on skate session in one of the sickest new parks around followed by intimate performances from Roots Manuva and Public Enemy? We can’t think of many – long live the UK scene.
