Burton US Open 2015: Halfpipe Semi Finals – Official Highlights

Ben Ferguson and Chloe Kim top the men’s and women’s halfpipe semi finals at the 33rd Burton US Open under perfect bluebird conditions. Watch the best of the action in the official highlights edit above.

After a challenging start to the 2015 Burton US Open on Wednesday, with men’s slopestyle semi finals being postponed due to inclement weather, the perfectly sculpted Vail superpipe was blessed with perfect conditions yesterday for the men’s and women’s halfpipe semi-finals. 10 men and 6 women qualified through to Saturday’s finals, with Ben Ferguson leading the charge for the men and 14 year old Chloe Kim putting down the best run of the day on the women’s side of things.

Chloe managed to better long-standing favourite Kelly Clark with both of her two runs upping her first score with a final run that consisted of a big Method, frontside 900 tail grab, McTwist indy grab, frontside inverted 720, Cab 720 melon and a huge frontside lien air to finish off.

Ben Ferguson was riding strong right out of the gates and put down the highest scoring men’s run of the day. His opening frontside 720 Japan was a thing of beauty, backed up by a big cab double cork 1080 mute, double crippler indy, backside 900 mute and finishing up with a frontside double cork 1080 melon grab. Taylor Gold and Arthur Longo were also riding super well, finishing up in the 2nd and 3rd spots respectively.

Definite highlights in the men’s competition include Arthur’s massive air to fakie first hit, and Danny Davis‘ signature switch methods.

Be sure to tune into Burton.com/USO from 7pm CET this Saturday to catch the finals of the Burton US Open 2015 halfpipe.
