The Nike 6.0 Air & Style Munich got underway with a second practise session yesterday. Despite the light rain, the riders were throwing down in impressive fashion - not least Halldor Helgason, who very nearly stomped this brand new (and very weird looking) trick! With a course that includes not only the big kicker, but a 'close-out' balcony drop and a pole jam to play on, the stage is set for some sick-ass action. Is sick-ass actually a word? Well, it is now.
Like all Air & Style comps, tonight's will be a knockout format. Which means (as any Crawley Town fan will tell you) the draw is all important. So here's who's going head-to-head with who tonight. Will there be any giant-killings on the way to the final? Let's hope so...
Peetu Piroiinen (FIN) vs. Markku Koski (FIN)
Iouri Podladtchikov (SUI) vs. Ethan Morgan (D)
Sage Kotsenburg (USA) vs. Ulrik Badertscher (NOR)
Seppe Smits (BEL) vs. Mason Aguirre (USA)
Sebastien Toutant (CAN) vs. Christian Haller (SUI)
Janne Korpi (FIN) vs. Halldor Helgason (ISL)
Markus Malin (FIN) vs. Nils Arvidsson (SWE)
Werner Stock AUT) vs. Peter König (AUT)
Tom Copsey of Onboard, a man who's seen his fair share of these big events, has been making predictions over on their website - which make for interesting reading. We learned last night though that Mason Aguirre was taken to hospital after spending the whole day feeling rougher than a badger's arse, and Seb Toots (surely a favourite for any comp he enters these days) took a nasty fall in practise. We're unsure yet whether either of them will be riding, which could make things more interesting. On the off chance you don't happen to be heading to Munich tonight, you can watch all the action (including Little T and Jamie Nicholls in the Stairset Battle Jam) streaming live online on the Nike 6.0 UK Facebook page.
