The Snowbombing festival has scored a major coup by persuading a certain Mr Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim, to headline their event this year. Originally Mr Cook was supposed to be gettong on the wheels of steel at last season's event, but illness held him back. It seems he is pretty stoked to have been asked again this year. He said: "After a little false start, here I come!! I love a new experience and I'm eager for some high altitude raving! I only have one question – Is there such a thing as non-alcoholic gluwein? Can we get some in for the igloo especially?!"
The festival, which takes place in the week of April 5th to 10th 2010, in Mayrhofen, Austria, has also got some pretty sick support acts lined up. With Doves, Editors and The Enemy bringing a bit of Indie madness to the mix. Representing the drum n' bass end of the dance music spectrum is none other than the one and only Andy C, Ram records boss and DJ extraordinaire.
Also on the line-up is Andy C's protegee and Ram Records labelmate Sub Focus, who's tracks Rock It and Timewarp have been tearing up dancefloors all over the country recently. Joining Mr C on the line-up are the original dubstep duo Skream and his Croydon-based partner in grime Benga. As two of the original founders of the dubstep sound, Benga and Skream between them have probably done more than almost anyone else to bring dubstep to the mass audience it now enjoys. Skream's early single Midnight Request Line was the first huge dubstep anthem, swiftly followed by Benga's Night.
For the electro-heads, Snowbombing has the likes of Crookers and Fake Blood lined up, while breakbeat afficianados can look forward to the sounds of Stanton Warriors, Krafty Kuts and the Plump DJs. I could go on, but you get the idea - this line-up has something for everyone. Combine all this awesome music with a week on the snow and it starts to look like a damn good deal.
