Yes, it's finally here! The first issue of Whitelines for this winter is dropping on doormats and hitting the shelves of newsagents and snowboard stores across the land. With a slick new design and loads of fresh features, we hope you'll agree it's been worth the wait. The covershot features Scotland's Gary Greenshields launching into the new season - his first cover on WL after more than a decade as a pro. Here's what else you can expect from the new mag...
FREE DVD on the cover - Homies 3
Nico Droz and friends return with a third film which packs in a banging mix of powder, park and jibbing. The soundtrack is super fresh and many of the resorts are ones you'll actually have been to (which always adds some spice to the viewing experience eh?). Check out the teaser here - this film is a definite step up for the Homies.
In Deep - The Jeremy Jones Interview
'Big Mountain' Jeremy Jones is the undisputed king of powder lines. Having spent the last ten years redefining the limits of freeriding in Alaska, he has set himself the new challenge of accessing completely virgin terrain on foot - documenting his exploits for the two-year film project Deeper. We caught up with him in the flesh to chat about the movie, his revolutionary new snowboard company and what it feels like to drop into near vertical faces. Enlightening, inspiring stuff.
Face to Face - An Ode to Powder
Over the past few seasons, during trips to some of the most awe-inspiring mountains on the planet, WL staff photographer Matt Georges has been working on a pet project: taking portraits of riders in the heat (or rather the cold) of battle. Pairing their frozen stares with pictures of them deep in the white stuff, his portfolio is a celebration of our love for powder. Chris Moran takes up the verbal salute.
Highland Spring - A Taste of Scotland
Last winter Scotland enjoyed the season to end all seasons, with record snowfall and fantastic riding to be had right through to May. WL headed up in the spring for the Vans Dawn of the Shred comp, which featured the biggest kicker ever seen on these shores and some truly next level UK freestyle. With Cairngorm local Angus Leith as our guide, it was also a lesson in the delights of shredding our own back yard.
Fear & Loathing in Laax - The British Championships 2010
None of the WL team were available to review the Brits contest this year, so we sent a crazed journalist and his attorney/photographer instead. Expect a savage journey into the heart of British snowboarding.
U'Tah Very Much - In Search of the Greatest Snow on Earth
It might have spawned such legendary jibbers as Jeremy Jones and JP Walker, but Utah is also home to some of the driest, consistent powder on the planet. UK riders Dom Harington, Mike Austin and Seb and Nate Kern headed to the secret stash of Brian Head resort... and tried to avoid marrying several locals each.
