Countdown of the Decade – Part Five

http://mpora.com/videos/EUQbmBsZj Here’s part five of our Countdown of the Decade, which looks back at the ast ten years through classic snowboard film clips. This section brings us to 2005, bang in the middle of the decade. Having helped to change the way people thought about snowboarding with the Robotfood movies, David Benedek and his brother Boris decided took a step sideways and decided to produce a documentary about snowboadring – changing the way people thought about snowboard films in the process. Rather than being a conventional section-based film, 91 Words For Snow followed Benedek and a group of friends around for a season, revealing a wealth of detail that less perceptive snowboard filmmakers may have left on the cutting room floor.

Of course 91 Words also featured some sick riding, with the likes of Benedek, Christophe Weber and Nicolas Muller throwing down for Boris Benedek’s camer. The film continued the Robotfood tradition of making snowboarding look like fun – as this section shows – but it’s real significance was in challenging the conventional snowboard film format – an aim it achieved so successfully that it went on to become one of the most popular Whitelines covermounts ever.
