Could This Be The World’s Best Training Facility?

Last time we saw footage from Woodward Barn at Copper Mountain, Halldor Helgason and Ethan Morgan were sending it off their indoor snowflex feature into a foam pit. So we were a little surprised to see that, when they resurfaced their whole facility this year, they chose to use Skatelite!?

Skatelite is a popular material commonly used to cover skateboard and bmx parks (for those of you who skate, they even used it in The Berrics new build). Sounds like a strange choice for a snowboarding site though doesn’t it?

The re-design uses ‘Parkboards’ made by Burton with wheels along both sides presumably intended to imitate the grip of traditional snowboard edges. We’re a little sceptical to be honest but it does mean that the whole place can be used by snowboarders and skaters; and with foam pits trampolines and a whole variety of other features, this looks like the complete set-up for training future pros.

Are we going to end up with a group of riders who are a little confused though? I mean the campers’ tour of the Barn features music from the Art of Flight with an (almost) single shot which looks straight out of Pretty Sweet. What next, bowl snowboarding? Actually didn’t the Nike Montafon park do that already…?
