Classic section: David Benedek in Lame

The Robot Food films circa the early to mid 2000’s hold a special place in many snowboarders’ hearts. From the incredible, progressive riding to the feelgood, cheesy 80’s euro pop soundtracks, they managed to perfectly capture the fun of snowboarding in a way that very few films have been able to since. Lame and Afterlame (along with the Mack Dawg films of around the same time) were some of the first snowboard movies that this author ever watched, and to this day, remain some of his favourite. We used to stick one of them on when putting our boots on in the morning and there were very few better ways to start a day of snowboarding.

It’s pretty tough to pick just one standout part from Afterbang, Lame and Afterlame and we’ll likely have to revisit them again in the future with another highlight. For now though, sit back and get nostalgic with David Benedek’s part from ‘Lame’ (2003), which happens to feature the widest stance that we’ve seen to date (3:07 onwards…), a real corker of a tune and some amazing snowboarding. If this doesn’t make you want to drop everything and head to the mountains right now, we honestly don’t know what will. An absolute classic.
