40 Secs of slams with Feichtner and Ohlson

There’s something to be said about taking a hard slam, hiking back up to the top of the drop in and going for your trick again. Falling is part of snowboarding and it will happen, but it takes a lot of determination – an amount probably equal to the difference between your average rider and the super pros – to stick at it until you ride away. Heck, even Shaun White falls over sometimes (in contests and drunken rampages) – another thing that can help convince us that he is in fact human and not a contest-destroying android from a Scott Ridley film.

Here’s 40 seconds of slams from Marco Feichtner and Kalle Ohlson that were logged while shooting the new Pirates film Unique 8. The former’s slams are in the backcountry while the latter’s slams are in the streets. If this is intended to be a ‘battle’ as such, we’d give Kalle the victory here hands down. Yes, rag-dolling for 30 feet must hurt, and it sure does pull your limbs in all sorts of unnatural directions, but it is still soft at the end of the day. In our eyes there just can’t be anything worse than sliding chest first down a handrail, and that dull thud as Kalle’s head connects with concrete in the final slam just gives us the shudders. Yeah, Kalle hands down.
