Burton Snowboards drop new ‘13’ trailer and launch 2012/2013 website

It’s that time of year again folks. Burton has just dropped the trailer for their brand new movie, the aptly titled 13, which also just happens to look like the Burton ‘B’ logo – someone give that designer a medal!

We started watching this with high expectations, after all, last year’s offering ‘Standing Sideways’ was nothing short of outstanding and overall, we weren’t disappointed. Burton don’t stray too drastically from the norm here and it’s more or less banger after banger in a tightly edited two and a half minutes of shred from what is one of the strongest snowboard teams on planet Earth. All the usual suspects are here: Danny D, Mikkel, John J, Mark Sollors, Mark McMorris, Mikey Rencz, Jussi, Terje, Jeremy Jones, Zak Hale, Ethan Deiss, Seppe Smits, Peetu Piiroinen (and more) and the riding, as ever, is damn impressive. From the dark and moody pipe slashes and hits at the start to the barrage of huge powder hits at the end, all set to the frantic techno beats of Justice, this one is definitely worth a watch. The full movie is set to drop on DVD and iTunes in just over a month on 17th September.

The teaser for 13 is not the only thing that Burton have unveiled today. According to the Burton-centric press release: “today marks the beginning of winter for snowboarders worldwide, as Burton kicks off the first phase of its month-long winter launch campaign.” While we’re not totally sold on the idea that the start of winter is defined by when Burton unveils its new snowboard gear (we’re pretty sure it’s still summer where we are – at least the cool, damp, British version of it!), those of you in the market for some new product can head over to the freshly redesigned Burton.com and feast your eyeballs on their 2012/2013 product offerings. Apparently the first delivery of Burton products should also start dropping into stores around this time too. Don’t you just spoil us rotten Burton.
