Snowboarding Waves - DCP's Into The Mind Segment

CHECK OUT THE EDITING ON THIS

Way back in July we posted Parallel Lines, a creative video of Fredi Austbo showing off his talents on both snow and concrete in the pipe and bowl respectively.

Here we have the equivalent from the surf side of the sport. Filmed by Sherpa Cinema for their movie Into the Mind, it shows DCP riding both waves and lines. And we have to say visually it’s pretty neat.

What’s impressive here isn’t even the riding (though that’s typically awesome from DCP), but the way the production crew have managed to blend snow and water together in the edit suite to make it looks like he’s riding both at once.

Sherpa Cinema clearly reckon they’re pushing boundaries conceptually too. They claim the aim of the film is to “blend dream and reality” (which sounds more like something Ken Kesey would set out to do on his acid bus than something you’d find in a snowboard movie) and they’ve even given it a storyline which apparently involves “rising to the ultimate challenge” and “self-actualisation”.

But even with all that yibble (and the occasional ski shot) we reckon this could be a pretty cool film. As well as the editing, there’s some obviously very expensive camera work and the crew apparently travelled to some far-fetched locations including the Himalayas. Keep an eye out for it.

That’s what I’m talking about. Shows the connectedness that is why we do what we do…
