501 Parts To See Before You Die – #2 Travis Rice in Pop

#2 of 501

Pop turns 10 this year, so it seems fitting that the second installment in our ‘501 Parts to See Before You Die‘ would be from the film that arguably inspired a new generation of riders. Not only that, but Travis Rice‘s section – set to ‘Float On’ by Modest Mouse, just one perfect track from a perfect soundtrack – is unquestionably one of the all time greats.

Travis’ session on the infamous ‘Chad’s Gap’ blew everyone’s thoughts on what’s possible in the backcountry to smithereens

Stacked from end to end, it includes the infamous double cork that pushed going upside down twice to the forefront of progression. Not only that, but Travis‘ session on the infamous ‘Chad’s Gap’ blew everyone’s thoughts on what’s possible in the backcountry to smithereens – even the skiing legend Candide Thovex admits to being inspired by the footage.

This was the part that pushed Travis Rice from being one of the greats of the moment to the gargantuan status he occupies today, opening up the possibilities that allowed him to pursue ‘That’s It That’s All‘ and ‘The Art of Flight.’

Yup, another classic video part from Absinthe and the first of many heroic efforts by Mr Rice, the Pop ender truly deserves its place on this list.

Video parts are an essential component of the people that love snowboarding. As big as contests are in the moment, these are the artifacts that will survive each generation of rider and be passed down to the next as gospel.
