Nitro Team 2015-2016 Snowboard Review

Hands in, on three

The Details:

Nitro call this their “ultimate one-board answer” for those who’d prefer an all-rounder to a quiver. At first glace the Nitro Team certainly appears to cater to that kind of rider; it’s a directional twin with a classic camber profile and sintered base, with various freestyle-friendly tweaks.

The middle of this board is what’s most interesting about it; they’ve given it a smaller radius of sidecut between the bindings than at either end, so won’t feel too locked in when you’re in a turn.

The board is also slightly thinner in the centre, making it easy to twist through the waist and work your feet independently, while still being robust enough at the nose and tail for stability and pop.

The lightweight poplar core will ensure you’ll have no difficulty getting airborne, but is still sturdy enough to take some abuse on rails. You won’t get the easiest of rides in the backcountry – if that’s what you’re after, maybe look at the version that features Nitro’s ‘Gullwing’ hybrid profile – but if you’re prepared to work for it then this will handle a powder face without any trouble.

And if gripping it and ripping it is your thing, then the camber version of the Nitro Team is a must.

TESTER’S VERDICT:
Sam McMahon – Whitelines

This is a good, old-fashioned camber snowboard. The tech is fairly minimal, but it’s responsive and grippy with a nice playful flex that lets you pop and butter all over.

It’s easy to get on with on most terrain – be it park, piste or pow – and lets you get comfortable enough to try a few new things.

It would be a really great board for anyone brought up on rockered boards that wants to get to know what a proper twin camber snowboard can do for their freestyle game.”
