Anon M3 2015-2016 Snowboard Goggle Review

Mag-nificent

UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2017/2018 Anon M3 here

Anon is Burton’s goggle and helmet division, so if you like to wear a lid when you ride then you’ll know you’ll get a compatible fit with items from their line. Also, some of the models come with magnetically attached facemasks, meaning you can create a full seal against the elements – something that proves particularly useful when snowboarding in Scotland

That’s not the only use of that technology in the Anon M3, though; this goggle features the brand’s ‘Magne-tech’ lens system. Strategically-placed magnets on the frame hold the lens in place with considerable strength when you’re riding, and will even keep things together in the nastiest of yard sales.

At the same time it’s really very easy to change the lens – the technique takes seconds to master, and ensures you can adapt to the conditions almost immediately.

Elsewhere it’s just as hi-tech; air is channeled in through the lower vents as you ride, and expelled out the top and sides for maximum efficiency. Plus the triple-layer foam has a low profile that maximises your field of vision, while at the same time providing enough space for a pair of specs underneath.

Yes, that’s a hefty price tag, but the expression “buy cheap, buy twice” definitely applies to goggles.

TESTER’S VERDICT:
Duthie – Whitelines

“Obviously not everyone can afford to drop this much cash on a pair of goggles, but those that can will love the Anon M3 – especially if you’re not after the frameless look.

They’re comfortable and have zero performance issues, plus the facemask is an added bonus. Changing a lens is incredibly easy, and you never need to worry about a mechanism that has the potential to crap out on you halfway through a pow day.

The magnets will always work, no matter what – and so will this goggle.”
