Burton Lexa 2015-2016 Women’s Snowboard Binding Review

Female freestyle functionality

UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2018/2019 Burton Lexa here

The Details:

The Burton Lexa is to the B’s women’s range what the Malavita is to the men’s – if you’re looking for a high-end freestyle binding, look no further.

With a flex rating that’s towards the stiffer end of the spectrum, you won’t find it the easiest to manipulate, even though it’s nice and light. What it will do is keep you stable and confident when the going gets tough.

Both straps have been improved for 2015/16; the toe-strap is a new super-grippy design, and the ankle strap has an asymmetric design.

Those who’ve had issues with marshmallow-esque squishy straps may like this pared-back version that still provides plenty of support and comfort. It also falls away from the baseplate when unstrapped, making it quicker and easier to get your foot in.

Once you’re all strapped up, the footbeds offer plenty of cushioning and are canted to reduce fatigue. The highback is easily adjustable and doesn’t require any tools, so you’ll be good to go in no time.

The Lexa packs everything you need to send it long and deep in the park. If you’re feeling especially bold you can check out the ‘Queen LaCheetah’ colour variant…

TESTER’S VERDICT:
Lauren MacCallum – cairngormmountain.org

“I think the Burton Lexa sets the bar for women’s snowboard bindings. The highback is just the right height and flex to give power and control on heel edge turns.

The straps are comfy and the toe cup helps to keep the boot in place, enabling really quick edge-to-edge transitions. The dampening in the footbed is really effective at absorbing vibrations on icy corduroy, as well as impacts from landings.

The canting footbeds in the EST version are handy; they last forever and I know a number of friends with Lexas that are several seasons old but that are still delivering great performance. Also they look great, with some pretty funky colourway options!

Overall these bindings offer high performance combined with comfortt – just what you need!”
