Volcom – The Pat Moore Collection

Solid Design Meets Timeless Style

Volcom rider Pat Moore is a tireless workhorse whatever avenue he’s pursuing, so it’s befitting that his outerwear reflects that both in its technology and styling.

You’ll not find wild fashion choices here; instead, expect fully functional outerwear with a traditional workwear look to it. ‘Timeless’ might be an overused term when it comes to clothing but it’s hard to imagine these designs looking out of style – much like the man himself.

The range is split between the street/spring-oriented Sherpa Jacket, and the Insulated Jacket – which provides a technical layer against more serious weather; Pat also gets a set of pants and gloves that are built to tackle whatever you throw at them.

Pat Moore Insulated Jacket

Whether you’re looking at the stand-out yellow colourway, or the more discreet black option, the Pat Moore Insulated Jacket is a one-stop solution for the colder months.

As the name suggests, it has inbuilt 40g insulation for those folks that know they run slightly colder, or who are less keen to have to rely on heaps of layers. Cut from a two-layer material dubbed ‘V-Science Duck Cloth’, the outer is a suitably high-end 15k waterproof/10k breathable shell, with oversized pockets providing plenty of easy-access stash spots. It also comes printed with an iconic stone on the back of the neck.

Rather than jumping on the tall fit bandwagon, Pat’s kept things regular with this one, opting for Volcom’s pant-to-jacket zipper connection which, by completely sealing the powder skirt, keeps things bone dry on deep snow days. This eye for detail is carried through to the sleeves, where a two-way cuff can be used to loop the end of the jacket around your thumb and keep any potential gaps closed.

Pat Moore Pant

Using the same heavy-duty 15k/10k outer fabric as the Insulated Jacket, the Pat Moore Pant is a bit of perfectly versatile leg-wear that’ll see you through the whole winter, year after year.

As they’re a shell pant, you can choose to layer up underneath them for the colder months, or wear them solo with the vents open when it gets really warm.

To ensure that snow doesn’t get through whatever the weather, Volcom have given Pat’s pants fully taped seams and boot gaiters, as well as one half of the aforementioned zip interface for a clean connection to the jacket. Elsewhere, internal waist adjusters ensure the best fit possible.

Reflecting the workwear influence, you’ll find additional strength in the triple stitching used in vulnerable spots. This is especially handy when you’ve only got one pair to use everywhere as you’ll want to make sure they’re built to last!

Pat Moore Sherpa Jacket

As we mentioned earlier, you’re not always going to need a fully technical jacket to ride in. Enter the option that our bearded friend takes to the streets – the Pat Moore Sherpa Jacket.

Plenty warm enough even by itself, this shirt-style layer has a DWR (durable water repellant) finish that will keep reasonable amounts of snow/water at bay, as well as its own sherpa lining to keep you insulated.

Of course this means it will double well as a mid layer in the depths of winter and, should you ever find yourself in an après situation, its dapper looks are up to the task.

Finished in plaid flannel, with Pat’s signature woven label, it’s primed for blokes who dig trees – whether riding through ’em, over ’em or just chopping ’em down.

Pat Moore Gloves

We’ve seen our fair share of gloves that come at you with too many bells and whistles when, at the end of the day, simple is better.

Fortunately the Volcom Pat Moore gloves don’t make the same mistake.

They’ve taken a leather shell, treated it with their V-Science Stay Dry formula, lined it with a fixed sherpa layer, and presented it just like that.

Pat’s gone for a traditional light-tan colourway, with embossed logos and an elastic wrist cinch. Job done. You could go looking for more, but there’s a reason that leather is tried and trusted by some of the best riders around.
