Arguably the first Eastern bloc rider to come onto the international scene, Marko grew up in terrain not similar to our green and pleasant land plagued with a lack of rideable terrain. He spent a lot of time up on the slopes of East Austria in places like the Dachstein Glacier.
Picked up by Burton he soon became a fixture on the competitive scene and was propelled to dizzying heights by a standout part in Blank Studios genre defining movie ’91 Words for Snow’ produced and starring Mr David Benedek himself.
He chased this standout section down with appearances in Standard Films Productions, Burton Snowboards in-house movies and more recently his own web series inventively called ‘Grilosodes’ which are the classic Marko balance of straight up shredding and some gentle ribbing.
When most pros are thinking it’s about time to hang-up the old shred boots, he hasn’t stopped from sweeping podiums at The Air & Style, Quiksilver Spring Battle, O’Neill Evolution and XGames Tignes.
Marko recently became Daddy Marko, but from the looks of it: He’s got unfinished business yet.
