Ptarmigan Slopestyle Championships at Cairngorm this weekend

As the old saying goes, you should make hay while the sun shines. After having a difficult time of it earlier in the season, Cairngorm Mountain has made up for lost opportunities and packed out the spring season with events.

There’s already been the Scottish Freestyle Championships, the Bonnie Banked Slalom and the recent Vans Hi Standard Series, but they’re nowhere near done yet. Bag The Pipe, their first halfpipe comp for years, is set for 19th April, and this weekend they’ll play host to the Ptarmigan Slopestyle Championships.

The comp is free to enter, providing you’ve bought a liftpass and handed over a refundable deposit for your bib. On the day there’ll also be a chance for competitors and spectators alike to test next year’s Lib Tech, Gnu and Roxy boards – including some split boards. Oh, and there’ll be a bar and BBQ set up right at the park…

It’s a great chance to enter a laid-back event, and to ride one of the better freestyle setups seen on these shores in recent years. Pre-registration is open now, with late sign-up available on the day until 10am.
